ode to sleep

  • Photograph Taken By Zoe Pessin

sly slumber slithers over my head, dancily dangling, dipping, drawing moments of feverish fumbling

amidst the quieted world.

painting pictures of turbulent thought tsunamis trespassing into the weakest corners of my

raw mind

eyes closed thinking, eyes wide open ruminating in restless tomorrows that too often

linger incessantly until

dawn softly stretches its marmalade hues across the murmuring morning sky,

humming hushed rhythms of daylight to the quiet souls begging their minds to hibernate until

tonight begins again at dusk

repeatedly repeating rushing rambling restlessly raging reminiscing

on what could have been when you should have and would have

been

awaking while you should be dreaming of sleeping in the bright silence cluttered by the loud darkness.

to sleep is to escape the murmurs of the mind that shuffle in between memories and mistakes
